Western Harbour

This is a photo of the flour mill and western harbour complex bordering Leith Docks. I have heard rumours that the flour mill is going to be demolished, which I think would be a gross act af vandalism as I think that it is quite a beautiful building, and does not look out of place alongside the newer developments at all.

Three Men and a Hole

This is another “trams” related picture. I was heading up to meet BondWoman to go and listen to some very good live music yesterday and could not resist photographing these three men when the bus came to rest at traffic lights. At first I wondered why the guy in the middle was scratching his head; then I noticed that water was pouring into the trench they were digging. I imagine that they were very popular with local residents who suddenly found themselves without water… I know that it had been a hot day, but that was no reason for them to create their own swimming pool.

KGB HQ Edinburgh…

Following the recent theme of architecture that does/does not fit in, the St. James Centre fits right into the latter category. The general consensus seems to be that this grotty piece of 60’s architecture was built to make the Soviet’s feel at home if they ever made it to Auld Reekie. To call this an eyesore, nay, even a blot on the landscape, would be to massively understate its grottiness. I would be tempted to say that it is just pig ugly, but that would be insulting to pigs…

London Road

A view along London Road towards Leith Walk from the top of Easter Road from the top of the No 1 bus on a sunny April day; and yes, despite the clouds, it was a very sunny day…

Easter Road

The five photographs that follow were taken from the upper deck of the No1 bus (which will account for the odd reflections in the first one) as it proceeded up Easter Road. I just love the top half of this wonderful street as it is so alive and vibrant…

Leith Victoria Swim Centre

The Leith Victoria Swim Centre has recently extended its premises with a new gym, this is the business end of it which I think is quite stunning and fits in perfectly with its surroundings… This is also one of BondWoman’s favourite places to swim.

Light over Leith

This was taken at 11:25 (if you look at the larger image you can see the clock on the building opposite) this morning, and yes it really was that dark! This photo is definitely not under exposed, if anything my camera slightly over exposes. One could be forgiven for thinking that this was taken in the dark depths of December rather than on the very last day of April…

Leith

I have had a few emails now from people saying that they are familiar with Edinburgh, but know nothing about Leith which I think is one of the best bits of Edinburgh; yes, I know, I am biased. Take a quick overview of this lovely spot…

The Scottish Story Telling Centre

Continuing the theme of buildings, this is the Scottish Story Telling Centre on the Royal Mile which I think to be a very interesting building. This building just fits right into its surroundings whilst at the same time having a rather funky air about it.
