Water of Leith in Spate
2008 August 13
The Water of Leith is in spate at the moment, quite a bit higher than I have seen it in the three years and a bit that I have lived here. This is a weir just upstream from us and is the usual haunt of a heron which, oddly enough, was not in evidence today. The pic below shows how I am used to seeing this weir at this time of year, complete with resident heron.

The water certainly is high at the moment! I’ve seen a heron at that weir many a time.
That’s come out really well BB. It was a nice little walk, albeit a bit muddy.
CGP: I suspect that there has been a lot of water falling on the Pentlands recently…
BW: well if you will insist on wearing sandals along there you must expect to get muddy toes…
