A fitting and well deserved monument to that Enlightenment, and personal, hero David Hume. Bondwoman and myself spent some interesting minutes in the Calton Hill burial ground, just off Waterloo Place, on Sunday afternoon, and all because I wished to pay homage to the great man himself. What particularly struck us was just how long lived, particularly for their time, some of these people were; but people like Hume were not only long lived in terms of their physical life, they still live on today in those who can be seen as the keepers of the flame of Enlightenment, especially within Edinburgh University…
